PSM Manager, Texas Hill Country

Position Summary

Maintains audit procedures, protocols and reference materials. Coordinates, directs and participates in PSM audits. Selects and manages consultants engaged as audit team members. Supervises ad-hoc audit teams comprising Valero subject matter experts and/or 3rd-party auditors. Leads opening and closing conferences with refinery leadership teams. Evaluates draft findings against relevant expectations; revises as needed for quality, accuracy, and consistency. Evaluates corrective action plans for suitability and negotiates changes with site PSM professionals. Reports audit results clearly and accurately. Tracks corrective actions status and verifies completion. Requires up to 40% travel.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree preferred. Environmental Health & Safety auditor certification and/or CSP preferred. Minimum ten years of relevant experience, in both field and corporate assignments; experience in a refinery or petrochemical environment is strongly preferred. Strong working knowledge of refinery operations, applicable process safety management requirements, and reliability fundamentals required. Self motivated and able to work on multiple tasks with strict deadlines. Ability to work with all levels of the organization. Highly developed written and oral communication skills. Proven interpersonal and conflict management skills.
