We currently have an opportunity for a Process Safety Management Consultant in our downtown Chicago, IL loop office. The Position – Providing mid- to senior- level technical support of industry-related projects in the areas of OSHA’s Process Safety Management and EPA’s Risk Management Program. Experience in performing PHAs, LOPA’s and background in process engineering a plus. Must be able to work independently on small projects and coordinate work with other project staff on larger projects. The qualified candidate will be responsible for taking part in the implementation of PSM program elements at client facilities. Projects may include PHA facilitation, compliance audits, and implementation support for program elements including Applicability Determinations, Mechanical Integrity, Training, and Management of Change. Primary clients will be in the petroleum, pharmaceutical and chemical industries.
Requirements – Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with 8+ years of previous work in consulting or industrial process safety experience. PE or CSP certification is preferred. Petroleum, pharmaceutical and chemical process experience is a plus.
Interfacing with project clients to identify and secure additional work is part of this job (seller-doer). Proficiency with MS Word and Excel required along with excellent communication and writing skills with strong attention to detail. Must be able to use automobile and plane transportation. Willing to work on client sites such as industrial plants that require walking and some climbing. Must be willing to become 40-hour health & safety trained.
Physical Demands – Must be able to travel 50% of the time. Ability to use automobile and plane transportation. Will be required to work on client sites such as industrial plants, hazardous waste sites, etc., that require walking and some climbing.
