The Mary Kay O’Connor Process Safety Center would like to congratulate Diana Castellanos on her acceptance to The University of Bergen in Norway for study abroad. She will be joining their Department of Physics and Technology to work on research involving Dust Explosions. There is a critical need for research to characterize the explosion behavior of dusts so that strategies can be developed to handle dusts safely and to minimize the possibility and severity, and therefore the risk, of industrial dust explosions. Diana will be working with GexCon R&D and The University of Bergen to develop safer processes in this area. GexCon has a research partnership with The University of Bergen. They are an independent consulting company aiming to be world leading in the field of gas dispersion, fire and explosion safety. Diana will spend almost 7 months in Norway.
