Research Topic

Applications of Resilience Engineering Principles in Chemical Process Systems

Resilience is essential to ensure the safe and sustainable operation of chemical processing systems. My research focuses on resilience assessment and modeling of such systems. After a disruption, a system experiences a drop in its performance level until an intervention action is taken to enable the system to adapt and restore its performance level. I am working on modeling the system’s performance during the absorption, adaptation, and restoration phases. I am using probabilistic models considering the impact of system’s operating and design variables on its performance. My goal is to propose a framework for resilience assessment at a process, supply chain, and environmental scale.
