Continuing Education Program

Process Safety Practice Certificate

The Process Safety Practice Certificate is a program that allows professionals in industry to gain a greater knowledge of process safety. This program was created for those industry professionals who want a more in-depth study of process safety.

How do I earn my certificate? 

The certificate requires 125 Professional Development Hours (PDH’s) for completion within a three-year timeframe. Continuing Education (CE) courses are offered on-site at training facilities in Houston, Texas, and through the center’s International Annual Symposium in College Station, Texas. There are multiple CE and online class options which enable applicants to focus their studies on a specific topic area.

Application Process

The application period for this certificate is always open.

Applicants must meet and adhere to the following requirements and guidelines:

  • Submit Application and register for courses
  • Obtain a “C” or better in online SENG course taken toward achievement of the certificate.
  • Complete and submit the coursework sheet within a three-year timeframe.

Upon completion of the program requirements, participants will be issued a certificate. The application and worksheet above will assist you with keeping track of your credits earned. 

Cost of Certificate 

The approximate cost to complete the certificate is $5,400-$6,470.

Approximate cost for international student completion cost is $9,000 by enrolling in three online SENG courses

Continuing Education Online Courses

The Mary Kay O’Connor Process Safety Center has a history of outreach and an established record of safety education through its continuing education program. Because of the continually growing interest in safety education, courses are now being offered online. Below are the schedules and registration links for these courses.

These courses may be taken for continuing education credit and can be applied toward the Safety Process Practice Certificate. Continuing Education programs provide focused training in specialized areas of technology. These courses can be of value to satisfy current job skills requirements and professional governmental certification requirements. Where needed, we can provide CEU (Continuing Education Unit) certifications for these programs. You DO NOT need to apply to the university to gain a certificate. However, if you wish to take these courses for University credit, please contact us.

Cost for Continuing Education Courses:

Domestic – $1800.00/course
International – $3000.00/course

Continuing Education On-Site Training Courses

The Mary Kay O’Connor Process Safety Center can provide structured training programs aimed at specific objectives. On-site courses are available for any course in our Comprehensive Course Catalog and have proven to be very successful. The instructor travels to the facility thus eliminating travel time and costs for the facility employees. In addition, the short course is tailored to the specific needs of the facility. The opportunity presents a win-win situation where the course is tailored to the specific company needs, the instructor travels to the facility location, and courses can be taught to an audience from 8-25 people.

  • Process Hazard Analysis Leadership Training

Customized Courses:
All on-site shortcourses are available to be delivered at your company site! The instructor travels to the facility and the short course is tailored to the specific needs of your facility.
