Dr. William Pittman

Senior Fire and Gas Detection Consultant

Micropack (Detection) Americas

William Pittman received a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University and the university’s Safety Engineering Certificate in August 2015. His doctoral research investigated the potential for micro-emulsion formation and phase inversion within semi-batch mixed-acid nitration of toluene. He has over 15 years of experience with process safety, fire protection and incident investigation. After receiving his doctorate, he briefly served as a post-doctoral research scientist with MKOPSC before briefly joining Smith and Burgess to work as a Safety Relief Engineer. He has been with Micropack for the last 6 years as a Senior Fire and Gas Detection Consultant.

Dr. Pittman has authored or co-authored 7 peer-reviewed papers and in addition to several conference papers and white papers. He was the instructor for Texas A&M’s Industrial Safety Engineering class in 2015 as well as short courses offered by MKOPSC and Micropack’s Fire and Gas Practitioner Course in partnership with exida. He currently serves on the board for ISA’s Safety and Security (SafeSec) division and on Working Group 7 of the ISA 84 Committee.
